Cai Mitchell

Cai Mitchell (he/him) is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto double majoring in sociology and bioethics. He has been a research assistant with the Re:searching for 2SLGBTQ+ Health team since 2022, where he has worked on projects concerning employment, poverty, and disability within 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

He is passionate about qualitative research and his academic interests beyond his previous work include trans health and youth access to care. He is also interested in rural, remote, and Northern access to care. This culminated in an undergraduate thesis on the ways that transphobia and queer metronormativity interact to prevent non-urban trans youth from accessing social and medical support networks. In his spare time Cai enjoys climbing, biking around Toronto, and cooking overcomplicated meals.
