Trans: Life stories and social representations of sex, body, gender and sexuality among transgender people in Brazil, Canada and Costa Rica

A qualitative research aimed at understanding the social representations of sex, body, gender and sexuality from the perspective of transgender subjects in Brazil, Canada and Costa Rica through their life stories.

The Specific Objectives of this project are:

  1. To analyze the social representations of sex, body, gender and sexuality attributed by Brazilian, Canadian and Costa Rican transgender people through their life stories.

  2. To unveil the impact of social institutions from the perspective of transgender people in the formation of social representations related to sex, body, gender and sexuality.

  3. To compare the differences and similarities between the legislation and policy for transgender people in Brazil, Canada and Costa Rica.
