Study Purpose
This study aims to understand the experiences of Tongzhi (gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men) aged 35 and above in Taiwan when accessing HIV prevention medication (PrEP). The findings will help inform more equitable and age-inclusive HIV prevention policies and healthcare resources.
Study Procedures
If you agree to participate, you will be invited to take part in a one-time interview lasting about 30–60 minutes, either online (via Cisco Webex) or in person. The interview will focus on your perspectives and experiences with PrEP, HIV, and sexual health in general. After the interview, you may also choose to receive a summary of preliminary findings and provide feedback.
Eligibility
Age 35 or older
Identify as gay, bisexual, or a man who has sex with men
Currently reside in Taiwan
Provide consent for audio recording during the interview
Privacy and Withdrawal
All study data will be labeled using a unique study ID, with any directly identifying information removed and replaced by this ID. Limited contact information (primarily email address) will be collected for research administration purposes and stored separately from other types of study data. Only fully de-identified data will be used for analysis and further publications. Audio recordings will be deleted once transcripts are verified. You may skip any question or stop the interview at any time. You may also request withdrawal of your data within one week after the interview. If you withdraw after one week, your data may already be included in analysis, but your direct quotes will not be used in any reports or publications.
Potential Risks
Some questions may feel sensitive or cause discomfort, but you may skip any question or stop the interview at any time. The interview will focus on your personal experiences, and there are no right or wrong answers. You may guide the depth and pace of the discussion according to your comfort level. After the interview, you will also receive a list of LGBTQ+ friendly community and mental health resources in Taiwan upon your request.
Honorarium
After the interview, you will receive an honorarium of appreciation for your participation.
