Egale Canada are currently seeking survey participants for an online survey open to 2SLGBTQI people across Canada to understand the prevalence and nature of 2SLGBTQI people’s experiences of harassment and violence, how they cope with these experiences, how these experiences affect their mental health, their feelings of safety, and how they engage in resilience and resistance.
What is The Project—Against the Current?
This research project, "Against the Current: A mixed-methods study of 2SLGBTQI people's experiences of hate and violence in Canada," aims to learn more about 2SLGBTQI people’s experiences of hate and violence across Canada. It highlights both the challenges individuals face and the ways they cope, resist, and build resilience—even if they have not experienced hate or violence directly.
In the project, a wide range of issues will be explored, including but not limiting to verbal abuse, online harassment, psychological harm, physical violence, and sexual violence.
Ultimately, this project will result in the creation of workshops and resources for community organizations as well as a national survey created by, with, and for these communities.
What Will be Involved?
At this stage, participants will be asked to complete a 25-35 minute survey. Participants can choose to complete the survey in French or English.
Who Can Participate?
Egale Canada invite participants who:
Are Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and/or intersex or a sexual orientation, gender identity/expression (SOGIE) minority
