Recently, we published one new paper based on findings from our PEERS (Peers Examining Experiences in Research Study) project!

This qualitative study examined transgender and non-binary people's (TNB) experiences as peer researchers, to contribute an understanding of how effective peer research is to reduce potential research-related harms for TNB communities.

Four major themes were generated:

  • imposition of cis-centric language and frameworks

  • devaluing of community-based TNB knowledge

  • experiencing discrimination and oppression on the job

  • importance of anti-oppression and conflict resolution

Based on these findings, we concluded that careful interrogation of peer research practices is needed to mitigate potential harms and create meaningful engagement of TNB people beyond ciscentric and cisnormative frameworks.
